Bite and orthodontic checks for Ocala kids

At each checkup we look at how the teeth and jaws grow together, and tell you what we see.

What we watch for

A dental assistant shows a child how to brush on a large teeth model

Crowding, spacing, a crossbite, a deep overbite, or front teeth that do not meet. Some of these settle as new teeth come in, and some do not.

When we refer

The American Association of Orthodontists advises a first orthodontic check by age 7. We refer you to an orthodontist when we see something worth a closer look.

Habits that change the bite

Thumb sucking or a pacifier past the preschool years can change how the front teeth meet. We talk with you and your child about gentle ways to stop.

Questions about bite and orthodontic checks

Does a referral mean braces?

Not always. Often the orthodontist only watches growth for a while.

Do you do braces here?

No. We work with orthodontists near Ocala and send your child's records ahead.
