I tell every child what I am about to do, and then I do exactly that. Kids relax when nothing is a surprise.
Dr. Annika Ferrante grew up in Gainesville. A kind pediatric dentist fixed her chipped front tooth in second grade, and she never wanted another job.
After dental school she spent two years in a pediatric dentistry residency, treating babies, teens and children with special health care needs in a hospital clinic. She opened Sparrow Hill in 2014.
She keeps visits short. She tells children what she will do before she does it, and parents stay beside the chair.
Outside the office she coaches her daughter's soccer team and spends Saturdays at the springs.
